Like in muscle growth, testosterone is required to help maintain your fat distribution.

When men have low testosterone, they are likely like to have poor fat distribution (particularly true if they also have lack of physical activities and poor diet). This can factor into weight gain.

However some experts think that low levels of this hormone doesn’t have a direct link with weight gain, but it could be one of factors to make the body lose control in fat distribution which then may cause weight gain.

Testosterone therapy is one of treatment options in obese men with testosterone deficiency [3]. Still, poor diet and lack of exercise are two clearly causes of weight gain.

In other words, though weight gain is probably quite common in men with low testosterone, it still can be prevented by doing a regular exercise and having a well-balanced diet.
