Using sunscreen is a must

This is particularly true when you’re going for outdoor activities. Anti-aging routines could be serum, exfoliants, creams, cleansers, or something else. But none that can replace the requirement for daily UV rays protection!

Exposure to UV rays is one of the most common causes for skin wrinkles [5]. UV rays (both UVA and UVB) can hurt your skin cells, accelerating the natural aging process of the skin. So if you forget your daily sunscreen, you will have consequences.

Here are 3 important points to remember when choosing and using sunscreen:

  1. It must have ‘broad spectrum’ label, meaning it’s designed to protect the skin for both UVA and UVB.
  2. Use sunscreen with SPF of at least 15. Some experts say SPF 30 is more recommended.
  3. It is always the last thing you apply. Don’t apply it before other skin products, or it will work ineffectively.

A few lifestyle measures would also help a lot

No matter how powerful your anti-wrinkle skin care line, they would be almost useless if you ignore on acing the basics. Besides protecting your skin from UV rays, do also the following:

  1. Stop smoking! Cigarette smoking hosts a lot of harmful chemicals, which some can take a serious toll on your skin health. It damages elastin and collagen, making the skin less elastic. Also, repetitive facial expressions when smoking would also contribute to wrinkles on your face.
  2. Eat a healthy, balanced diet! Your skin need plenty of nutrients to keep it youthful looking. So make sure to eat enough healthy foods, such as; fresh fruits, vegetables, lean protein, and whole grain. Also, drink enough water every day to help keep your skin hydrated.
  3. Do exercise regularly. We all agree that exercise is so vital for healthy living, including for your skin health. Exercise boosts your blood flow, which is good for nourishing your skin cells and removing unnecessary things (e.g. toxins, free radical, and waste products).
  4. Manage your stress! Stress is bad for the balance of your blood flow, so is the skin health. It would also make your skin become more sensitive.
  5. Get enough sleep every day, which is also a good stress controller. Sleep deprivation may contribute to speed up your aging process [6]. It’s also thought that not enough sleep causes poor water balance, making under-eye circles and wrinkles more visible.
